Each year as NVCWDA’s anniversary dance approaches, I wonder what we were doing 10 or 20 years ago.

In September 2009, the officers were:

President – Charlie Pierce
VP – Bo Marlin
Secretary – Joyce Leamon
Treasurer – Donna Dennis

We were dancing at Luther Jackson Middle School twice a month on the first and third Saturdays. Admission was $10 members/$12 nonmembers. We had 174 members.

Dance lessons included couples dances Oklahoma Breeze, Chiquita, Shadow, and Six Pack Summer and line dances Circle 20, My New Life, Cabo San Lucas, and Walkin’ Wazi.

In September 1999, the officers were:

President – John Ford
VP – Marnie Roy
Secretary – Ella Broughton
Treasurer – Tug Richman

We were dancing at Sterling Community Center, Vienna Community Center, and Falls Church Community Center two or three times a month on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays. Admission was $7 members/$10 nonmembers. We had more than 400 members.

Dance lessons included East Coast Swing and the line dances Bread and Butter, After Midnight, and Makin’ Tracks.
