Meet NVCWDA
NVCWDA consists of a group of people dedicated to enjoying and promoting country-western dance.
Mission of the Association
Founded in 1986, we are a 501(c)3 tax exempt association incorporated in Virginia, for members and the general public interested in learning, teaching, expanding, and preserving country-western dance.
Membership is open to anyone over 18 years old. Our common bond is our love for country-western dancing. Our bylaws also stipulate a commitment to community service.
We have open dances several times a month, on the first and third Saturdays. All dances are open to the public: singles, couples and families; partners are not required. During the year we try to hold a “Benefit Dance” and other events so that we can donate the proceeds to a local charity. Each year we also have a special Anniversary Dance to celebrate our founding and a New Year’s Eve dance to celebrate the season. Occasionally we hold dance workshops.
Association Membership
Anyone over the age of 18 years can become a member of our association. For details see our Membership information.
Board of Officers and Directors
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association, NVCWDA is governed by a Board of Officers and Directors elected by the members of NVCWDA. Board members are the primary points of contact for dancers. Feel free to talk to them whenever you want.
Demonstration dance team
In addition to holding dances, we sponsor a dance team that goes out into the community to perform and teach in various places, such as festivals, school and church events, and senior centers.
National FastDance Association
NVCWDA is a member of the National FastDance Association (NFA). NVCWDA’s dance activities are licensed by ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC through the NFA. We pay annual royalties for the songs our DJs play to the NFA.
